Bill Mustard is the founder and Managing Director of Cairn Executive LLC.
In forming Cairn Executive, he recognized that businesses in times of need
would benefit from ready access to talented, experienced, senior executives
to see them through a difficult or formative time. He also recognized that
such talent might not otherwise be available to companies that perhaps
needed it most. Thus Cairn Executive was born as a management driven
solution to provide leadership and execution.
True to his Scottish roots, he looks for value in the business proposition. He
recognizes and acknowledges that clients demand performance, results and
value for money. Cairn Executive responds by providing the leadership and
execution capability on a cost effective, value driven basis.
Bill has been described as an experienced, commercially savvy businessman,
who honed his strong analytical and management skills and capabilities in
high growth, dynamic, international environments particularly in
telecommunications, media, technology and investment holdings.
Often working in cash tight situations, he has been adept at extracting value
from entrepreneurial business startups and in executing financial
reorganizations and turnarounds. Operating and financial performance
measurement became a crucial part of his repertoire at an early stage as he
drove towards successful outcomes on investment prospects. He is
pragmatic and resourceful in his problem solving bringing forth simplified
solutions to difficult problems. He has an unerring focus on the executable
goals and the role that performance improvement should play. Clients value
his tenacity, commitment and drive to deliver results.
He understands the leadership and motivational skills needed to be
successful particularly in times of adversity. Businesses in transition, change
or reorganization will redraft their vision and strategy. Inevitably, the
management organization will be realigned to match up with what is
required for the organization going forward. Bill has found that

His operational skills and experience cover a wide range of industries and he
has a wealth of experience in M&A, design and execution of complex cross
border transactions involving reorganizations, restructurings, financings,
dispositions and tax and legal analysis, contract negotiation and joint
ventures, in addition to his proven ability to build and turnaround
companies. His international business experience is extensive and embraces
Europe, Asia and Latin America.
While pragmatic in attitude, he also believes in a disciplined, rigorous
approach to develop and execute powerful growth and performance
improvement initiatives by evaluating the business, articulating objectives
and developing strategies to achieve those objectives. He has executed the
overhaul of management organizations, professionalized the investment
approach, focused the future investment on value driven strategies based on
motivated leadership and management organization alignment. He has
brought the managerial and strategic skills to drive productization,
commercialization and execution in order to build sustainable value.
Integrity and ethics are important to the foundation of business. Bill has
advised boards on corporate governance and has been responsible for
undertaking business and financial investigations on a global basis for a
number of international groups. These assignments have often acted as the
catalyst for improvements in systems, processes and behavior across the
business units resulting in a sounder control environment based on integrity,
responsibility and accountability.
He currently sits as member of the board of directors and sub committees of
a number of public and private companies operating domestically and
internationally.
